Rainbow of Magnolia is founded on a commitment to altruism and making a genuine difference. From the very beginning, we've held a deep-seated conviction that our work extends beyond landscapes to nurturing the lives of children in Africa and Asia. In 2024, Rainbow of Magnolia Landscaping took great pride in channeling over $370,644 into the hands of our 501(c)3 organization.
Initial Consultation: We embark on our garden design journey with a comprehensive session at your home, where we align on your vision, discussing enhancements and style preferences. Following our discussion and a detailed questionnaire, you'll receive a contract and a set of design goals tailored to your aspirations for the space.
Concept Development and Detailing: With a retainer in place, I return to conduct an in-depth site analysis, capturing the essence of your garden through meticulous measurements and photographs. The resulting sketches reflect our conceptual discussions and demonstrate a keen eye for detail. Every plant is counted and labeled, and each hardscape element, from fencing to patios and retaining walls, is carefully noted. A complete plant list is drafted, serving as a convenient shopping guide, whether you undertake this personally or entrust it to Rainbow of Magnolia.
Design Finalization: Your feedback is the cornerstone of our final design phase. In my studio, I refine every component, ensuring that the layout, plant selection, and structural features coalesce into a functional and aesthetically pleasing design. The final presentation includes a detailed plant list and a definitive payment schedule, providing a clear path to realizing your outdoor sanctuary.
Knowledge of plants and horticulture is a critical element of landscaping. But landscape design requires an artistic component as well. The principles of landscape design include elements of unity, scale, balance, simplicity, variety, emphasis, and sequence as they apply to line, form, texture, and color. Add a dash of your personal taste and aesthetics, and the result is a unique outdoor living space for your pleasure and relaxation.
Have you just purchased a new home and want the landscaping to reflect your character, not the character of the previous owners? Are you getting ready to sell a home and want to ratchet up the curb appeal? Or do you just want a different viewing point? We can help on all these counts.
You know a healthy lawn when you see it – smooth as silk, green as jade, and just begging for a few cartwheels or a round of bocce ball. To get and, more importantly, keep that lawn in tip-top condition requires preparation, planning, and persistence. Water alone is not enough; improper mowing can quickly wreck your investment; and it’s a constant battle to keep weeds and pests at bay.
In an urban or even suburban environment, it’s hard to find a lot of glorious solitude in your own back yard. As larger houses occupy ever-smaller lots, and the demand for outdoor living spaces grows, privacy is at a premiums. And it’s not just the neighbors’ prying eyes you’d like to escape — you may want to shield yourself from their clutter and chatter.
There are many ways to add privacy into your landscape — from putting in perimeter plantings to building fences, stone walls, arbors, or trellises. Landscape structures give your garden shape and dimension, creating separate outdoor rooms that add privacy and support for plants. Find out how we can help you create your own private oasis.
Proper trimming and pruning enhances the beauty of almost any landscape tree, shrub or plant. It also reduces the likelihood that your house or garden may be damaged as the result of falling branches. Improper pruning can ruin a landscape, weakening and deforming plants. More trees are damaged or killed each year from improper pruning than by pests.
Pruning and trimming, like any other skill, requires knowing what you’re doing to achieve success. Let our skilled professionals provide all the trimming services you need to maintain your landscape investment, keeping plants healthy, improving the quality of flowers, fruit and foliage, and restricting growth to only those places you want.
Landscaping is so much more than what you see when you look out your window: it’s the interaction between you and the environment in which you live. Landscapes offer aesthetic enjoyment, escapism, tranquility, and a sense of belonging to an area that reflects your distinct character. For more than 32 years, we’ve served the Magnolia, Queen Anne, and Capitol Hill areas of Seattle (as well as Newcastle, Bellevue, and Issaquah). Each of our landscape designs is unique, and represents an idealized form of the surrounding nature.
