I had a large, very mature bamboo that died this past Fall removed from my backyard. I called another company that also specializes in bamboo removal to give me a bid and they came in 50% higher than Bruce and Simonne at Seattle Bamboo. They guarantee their work so if the bamboo returns, they will come back to remove any stray shoots from the original job. They were delightful to work with. The job ended up being a lot more work that required heavy equipment to remove the rhizomes, but they kept to their original bid and didn't charge me a cent more. Very easy people to communicate with and the work was done quickly and efficiently leaving my yard in great shape, minus the dead bamboo.

I can't recommend Seattle Bamboo enough! Incredibly responsive and a delight to work with. If you have, as we did, out of control bamboo spread Bruce is the guy to talk to. He and Simone were so knowledgable and were able to help us get our bamboo under control. We had a couple quotes from other landscaping companies and their price was certainly competitive especially for their years of experience only focusing on bamboo. Bruce and the crew worked on a super hot day and completed the work in a few hours. Thank you Bruce and Simone for helping us get control of our yard again!

I usually choose not to give negative reviews until after I engage a company for their services, but just a single phone conversation with Bruce made it very clear that this company was not worth my while. He gave me a cost estimate based on the time of the year ... $1800 minimum charge would cost $2500 in the summertime ... without even looking at the job. He mentioned the guarantee, but ... obviously ... some of the previous customers had a bad experience with that. Overall the whole conversation was not worth while getting an estimate from this company. I work with a professional landscaper and have been in property management for many years and recognize the warning signs. Even his responses to the reviews from unhappy customers are unprofessional and rude. When/or if you choose to read them you will think twice about hiring. It's easy to get a few good reviews from friends and people you know ...

We had Seattle Bamboo remove some four dozen feet of uncontained bamboo, which had spread north over to the neighbor's house and spread south into our lawn, growing toward our house. They were pompous/unpleasant to work with, their pricing was outrageous for the little time they spent, and they found it inconvenient to come very often. I'm embarrassed to admit how much money I gave them for their work on the strip, plus the offshoots that were growing north into our neighbor's yard. After months and months of working with Seattle Bamboo, we ended up stopping with them (we paid them for what they had completed to date and agreed not to continue together). We had another garden service (Lee's General Landscaping) come to dig up the rest of the bamboo (the stuff in our lawn, growing south toward the house). This other service completed the task within in a few days, making a big trench in the lawn to cut it off, for a much much lower price. (They then installed more soil and covered the area with turf and a patio.) That was three years ago and while the bamboo growing south that Lee's removed has not returned, the bamboo growing north that Seattle Bamboo removed has actually returned in our neighbor's yard. I understand that with the one-star review that I'm giving Seattle Bamboo, I have insulted Bruce (based on how he has responded to this review) and I should not count on them coming through on their guarantee. Which is totally fine. But I think people be aware of this and really compare options. It's not easy to admit that I made such a bad decision.

I actually found Bruce and Simmone to be very kind and understanding. Not to mention that the work they did for us was utterly brutal and physically difficult. I also thought that they were exceptionally careful of the rest of our plant collection, and the rest of the garden in general. From the perspective of a self employed General Contractor like myself, I also thought the price was quite fair, given the amount of labor that went into the task. Yes, their truck is old. It still works fine to cart away huge piles of Bamboo. As a customer, do you want to pay for a $50k truck? Yes, neither of them wear suits and ties to work. As a GC, I look for subs that know their business, perform the work without supervision and correctly, and operate their business soundly. Seattle Bamboo does all that and more. Don't be afraid to hire these people. I highly recommend them.
