Shepherd Stoneworks

Shepherd Stoneworks Inc. has been in business in Seattle since Summer of 2003. Owner Mark Shepherd got his start in Landscape Construction and Stonework in 2000 after years of working as a laborer doing both landscape maintenance and construction. Since then multiple opportunities have arisen for him to learn new skills and gain insight from various workshops and collaborations as well as books and research. Sometimes working alone and other times with a trusted cadre of skilled assistants, Mark has completed at least 200 projects in the Seattle area, many of which were larger, multi-faceted endeavors.

Can't say enough good things about Mark. He rebuilt our badly degraded steps, added some new masonry elements for a gate, flagstone, and also built us a new cedar fence. Everything was fine to a very high quality of finish and Mark was communicative and easy to get in touch with through the whole process. Highly recommend.

Had a great experience hiring Mark to replace our side stairwell. The stairs came out just as he outlined, on budget and the extra attention to detail in the work (matching the slant in our side wall, smooth gradient since we live in a hill, patching the cement on the sidewalk) was phenomenal. Would absolutely hire Mark again if we need more stonework.

I needed a really good stone mason to rebuild part of an existing retaining wall in our back yard. Mark was great! I offered to dismantle the section and do the initial excavation myself in order to save a little money and he was totally fine with that. His prices were fair, the project came in on budget, and the work looks fantastic. He blended the new work into the existing wall perfectly. I'm a big fan of nice stone work and really appreciate the time and care he put into the project. When I look at that section of wall I feel like it was money well spent. It just looks so good! I'm very happy I hired him.
